Artist Bio
I am a ceramic artist working from my studio in the hills behind Ballina. I graduated from Southern Cross University, ,B.V.Arts, as a mature age student in 2008 after completing a three year Di0ploma of Ceramics at Northern Rivers TAFE in 2003
While establishing my ceramic practice I participated in self-funded Residencies in Jingdezhen, South Korea, Japan and Yunnan, and have been a finalist in several awards winning the 3D section of The Outback Art Prize and sharing the Byron Classic Award as well as selling work at International Art Fairs. My ceramic horses are held in collections in Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Yunnan, Malaysia and New York.
Using the potter’s wheel and hand building I make functional and sculptural ceramics inspired by a life-times experience with horses and love of ancient ceramic forms. I love to develop my own glazes and explore local materials using various decorative elements, surface treatments and firing processes making expressive forms that tell a story.
